What is a SAS 70 Type II Audit?
SAS 70 is an internationally recognized auditing standard, developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which allows service organizations to disclose their control activities and processes to customers and their auditors in a uniform reporting format. The Type II audit goes beyond the Type I audit which describes the data center processes at a specific point in time and actually tests the effectiveness of those processes over a minimum six month period.

At the completion of the SAS 70 Type II audit, a formal Service Auditors' Report is provided. The Report includes a detailed description of RPE's controls and the auditor's assessment of whether the controls are placed in operation, suitably designed and operating effectively.
