New systems more cost effective than maintaining aging hardware
Land O’Lakes, Fla. (August 18, 2015) – Retail consulting leader RPE is working with U.S. and Canadian retailers to evaluate aging hardware systems to assess if upgrading or replacing older hardware and retail point of sale solutions can reduce operational and maintenance costs.
“As hardware ages, maintenance costs increase. Upgrading to newer hardware provides more processing power, increases efficiency and reduces operational and maintenance costs,” said Cliff Epstein, president of RPE.
When selecting hardware, it is critical to understand the software applications that will be running as that impacts the hardware selection process. As a retail consulting partners with several leading software vendors offering key retail applications, RPE has extensive experience working in multiple operating environments including IBMi, AIX, Linux and Windows. RPE will evaluate current operating systems, applications and hardware to present the right-sized servers and retail point of sale solutions to meet current demand and future growth.
“Hardware is core to a retailer’s infrastructure and our clients can maximize the value of their IT platforms utilizing today’s more cost efficient hardware to drive bottom line profits,” said Epstein.
RPE assists in the hardware selection, configuration, installation and management of IBM, Lenovo and Toshiba hardware and retail point of sale solutions.
